Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is a Mexican American sportscaster. She is currently employed by ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and occasionally host SportsNation. She was hired by ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the daughter of Maria Antonieta Collins, a journalist on television. Antonietta Collins is bi-lingual and has been since her age of nine. This skill helped her to get her first position at Univision, Miami. She could work alongside national producers on shows such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. Then she was promoted to a reporter for CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. In 2009 she relocated to Texas into Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting at KNVO TV 48 Univision. Covering stories on the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of Mexico-Texas border, she worked as a reporter on the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a anchor and reporter for the 9 p.m. newscast, which was in English and also a reporter again for 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. She also filled in for weather anchors, sports anchors and forecasters. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's station affiliated with Dallas. In that station, she was given greater duties. She reported on The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason as well as the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was the producer of Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor. She was advertised as a sports anchor on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. As a sports anchor, she worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins' grandparents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. The city of Mexico City she was conceived on the 22nd November 1985. She has an elder sister. In 1992, the family settled in Miami after relocating out of Mexico into the US. Within a brief time her father split from her mother and she was subsequently remarried by 1995 naval architect named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away of kidney carcinoma in 2006. The time of summer when she was with her younger sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had gotten a job. Antonietta was a senior high school student, but she had a clear idea of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University in order to determine if they suited her. The campus was beautiful and provided the education she wanted. When she completed her high school education she enrolled in the university to study media studies. Her professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a student in her class, developed an ongoing friendship with her. Mark's passion for journalism and confidence in her own abilities inspired her. In turn, she was determined to achieve the standards he set and to not disappoint him.
